Have a safe flight with a needle in a sandwich?

A recent article on CNN says that a passenger on Air Canada flight finds a sewing needle in a sandwich during a flight from Victoria, British Columbia, to Toronto.

The police are examining the incident which occurred on Monday, July 30, 2012.

Moreover, needles were found in six sandwiches on Delta flights from Amsterdam to the United States two weeks ago. The FBI and Dutch authorities are also investigating the incidents.

Gate Gourmet, a 20-year-old company, a provider of prepared sandwiches to Delta, has collaborated with Air Canada and has complied with the customer’s request to its caterers to heighten food safety procedures, including inspection and screening of all products boarded on flights. They are doing their best to support their customer, including cooperating with the authorities investigating the incident.
